I had been asked about what I use for local development. Here are some links to local development as well as some other CPT links:

• Desktop Server: Someone had mentioned an alternative to MAMP Pro. I’m going to check this one out for sure!
• Getting off FTP and onto Git Deployment with Beanstalk: This was what got me doing local development. No more FTP COmmandos!
• Custom Post Type Generator: If you want to insert CPT php yourself, here is a good generator.
• BitNami Stack For WordPress: This was an easy way to get a local version WordPress running on OSX and it’s a free app in the App Store.
